About Satterthwaites Bakehouse Crosby

In October 2012 Satterthwaites Ltd sadly closed the bakery and 7 shops in the local area after over 100 years of baking.

In November 2012, as we already owned a bakery in Cheshire we came up with the idea of buying some of the equipment in the auction with a view to producing the famous pork pies and supplying the products, to a small shop, from our other bakery.

The idea grew and we were offered the bakery to rent by the previous owner. We decided to build a shop at the front of the bakery – to create an open bakery where customers can see and smell the products being made.

We opened in April 2013 and have been able to re-employ some of the bakers and staff who previously worked for the former Satterthwaites and we have taken on new staff as well. In all we now employ 20 people including Saturday and part time staff. We have an excellent team who work hard to produce and sell our high quality goods.

We continue to sell the special pork pies and sausage rolls, and have introduced new flavours including pork pies with black pudding, haggis and chorizo which have proved to be very popular.

The bread is freshly made and baked in Crosby.

Our famous Bavarians are still a best seller and we have introduced new delicious cakes, such as Biscoff Millionaires and Blondies, in addition to the old favourites like Chocolate Eclairs and Iced Buns.

We sell good quality coffee from Neighbourhood Coffee which you can enjoy with a variety of breakfast options sitting in our cafe area at the front.

All of our left over food at the end of the day is taken to the Soup Kitchen to feed the homeless.

Thank you for your support – we hope to continue to build on our success for many years to come.
